By performing a visual inspection you can tell if a roof is worn, peeling, cracked, old and most obviously leaking. If leaking is occurring but not yet noticeable, sometimes stains will appear on ceilings, indicating a roof leak.
If your roof looks in good shape, it can probably be repaired. If your roof is past its life expectancy and is obviously on its last leg. then you probably need a completely new roof.

Black or dark colored shingles are more prone to shading problems. A small amount of light is reflected from dark surfaces. Therefore, even slight textural differences may cause shading. Light colored shingles reflect greater amounts of light than darker shingles and as a result it is harder to notice shading problems. Since blends are made from a number of colors, shading differences are masked and are even less noticeable.
The material on the back of a shingle is sometimes transferred to other shingles that are next to it. Also, when shingles are stacked too high or stored for long periods of time, stains can develop. Both conditions can create the appearance of shading. These are only temporary aesthetic issues and will naturally weather off. Note: Shading does not affect the watershedding performance or life expectancy of a shingle.
We have found that poor ventilation causes roofing material to wear out prematurely. It also ruins the wood deck due to condensation. These two products offer an inexpensive way to greatly improve your roof and attic ventilation.
Shingles come in different grades. The better the grade, the longer the life expectancy, which can range from 15 to more than 40 years.
Drip edge and ice and water shield can be very beneficial in certain unique situations, such as lower pitch, no overhangs, multiple slopes or where pitches come together. Your proposal will normally show these options if they apply to your job.
